Johannes Voit

Johannes Voit had made an early career as a Professor of Theoretical Physics. After working in on one-dimensional fermion systems, in particular Luttinger liquids, he got interested in the application of statistical physics to financial markets. His book "The Statistical Mechanics of Financial Markets" has been a bestseller with students and professionals alike, ever since.

Subsequently, he decided to apply his skills and knowledge to practical problems in finance, and he currently works as a Director of Risk Management in the financial services industry in Germany. He is the author of more than a hundred scientific and professional publications, and a frequent speaker at conferences and educationals institutions.

Johannes Voit has travelled to China for more than 30 years both for professional reasons and private interest. He is interested in all aspects of life, history, and culture in China. His recent book “Songjiang – The Cradle of Shanghai” is the result of a deep dive into the origins of Shanghai Culture.
